Normally a futbol player will get up after a tackle but over the weekend, one player collapsed and didn’t get up like norm.
Bolton Wanderers’ Fabrice Muamba collapsed in a FA Cup game against Tottenham Hotspurs at White Hart Lane. According to the report, Muamba suffered from a heart attack. Despite being rushed to the hospital where he was resuscitated. Now he is in the midst of recovering.
In fact, this is not the first time we encounter futbol players collapsing on the pitch. However its hard not to question ourselves why a fit professional would go down just like this on the pitch where they are most familiar with. Even in local context, there were reports where healthy young mens with no prior illness passed on in their sleep or after a run. I tried googled “why players collapsed while playing futbol” but there was no concrete explanation on how exactly it happened, except that most of the time these occur because of genetic cardiac diseases which was not detected early. And that not only affects futbol players but athletes in other sports too.
This is an unfortunate incident which nobody wants it to happen. We can only pray for Muamba’s speedy recovery and hopefully a talent like him could be running on the pitch, playing his favorite sport again soon.
