Singapore & Geylang International defender Anders Aplin has joined J2 Matsumoto Yamaga on loan till the end of this season. The move makes him the first ever Singaporean to play in the J.League.

Since the former Geylang International’s captain arrived in Japan earlier this week, he has been working hard on adapting to the new football culture and environment. The top most priority that the defender has identified is the language.

“I have been working hard on the Japanese language everyday since day 1. I know that will be the key for myself to quickly adapt to the new environment,” commented Anders.

The former Japan Football League outfit first got into the world’s attention in year 2011 when their newly-signed Japan International & Yokohama F.Marinos’ Naoki Matsuda collapsed during the training and subsequently passed away 2 days later.

Matsumoto Yamaga has played one season at the highest level (J1) in year 2015. The Nagano-based football club is also currently leading J2 with 56 points, 6 points above second spot Oita Trinita and is on high spirit working towards the promotion to J1 for the second time.

Anders’ move to Japan is made possible by EPSON who are the club sponsor for both Geylang International and Matsumoto Yamaga.
