Within 2 days, Singapore’s Hong Kah Secondary School swept all Championship titles for the National Inter-School ‘B’ & ‘C’ Division! Both Hong Kah Secondary ‘B’ & ‘C’ Division teams beat Sengkang Secondary and Tanjong Katong Secondary respectively from the spot after a draw result at the end of the final whistle.
Victories for the school in both divisions are a magnificent achievement and one particular figure in the background of these accolades should not be missed out. That man is none other than Hong Kah Secondary School’s head coach, Coach Zainudeen (Zai).
Coaching and leading a group of Singapore’s future football stars, including some from the Singapore youth team which participated in the 24th Canon Lion City Cup, Coach Zai is doing one of the most difficult tasks in a teenager’s life. Let alone football development. His knowledge and experience of the game has allowed the youngsters from Hong Kah Secondary to flourish, and even if the Ramadan fasting is ongoing which saw most of the boys suffering from cramps during the finals, their perseverance and desire to win summed up the victories. No one else but Coach Zai is the one who instilled that mentality into the next generation.
A new record for Hong Kah Secondary School and definitely a well-deserved team effort and victories for the boys. Hopefully, these groups of the next generation will continue to improve and excel beyond their limitations! To Hong Kah Secondary School, its a job well done and aside to Coach Zai, you are definitely the man who created the winners.
