Special Olympics Singapore football team hosted Australia Northern New South Wales (NSW) football team to a futsal game at Ceylon Sports Club this morning. Knowledge was shared and experience was gained. All thanks to both the teams as well as SINGACUP organizer, Dynamique Konzepts, for making this futsal friendly possible!
Australia Northern NSW football team is currently here in Singapore for a football tour. They will be playing against some of the local-based football academies, Singapore’s COE (Centre of Excellence) teams and the Singapore National Youth. Other than the tough opponent, Singapore’s humid weather is another challenge which the Australian boys have to face!
Never write the Special Olympics Singapore football team off. They are definitely not an easy walkover team. Athens 2011 Special Olympics World Summer Games 5-aside and recently concluded Special Olympics SEA Unified Football Tournament Champion showed their characters and skills in this morning’s friendly too! Once again, this special group is no different from us, which in fact, I find them playing some beautiful football better than most of us do!
Regardless who has a stronger credentials, the friendly today was another quality knowledge-exchanging game which benefited both teams. More such quality playing opportunities should be materializing and it is always in the best interests of Singapore football. Nonetheless, we still wish Australia Northern NSW football team all the best in their remaining games here in Singapore, and all the best for Special Olympics Singapore football team!
