Headline news on Bangkok Post stated Italy and Argentina hammered opponent. With all respect to the teams, the games were decent but Italy and Argentina were the better teams last evening.
At Bangkok, Nimibutr Stadium, Italy started strongly against a very young-looking Australian team, putting 4 goals past the Australian custodian at half time. Italy dominated the game right from the start and their experiene on such a big state showed 5 goals and Australia managed to grab a consolation goal too. Final score, Italy 9 Australia 1.
Next game was a typical battle of South America – Argentina taking on Mexico. Probably both teams knew each way too well and that explained why they started the game conservatively. As the game warmed up mthe game got aggressive and the real show started.
As the game went into second half, the Mexicans’ fitness was challenged to the maximum. Argentina took advantage of that and scored some decisive goals in the second half to seal off the game, Not because of the ourstanding performance of Mexico’s custodian, the score line could be more, Final score, Argentina 5 Mexico 1.
Exciting futsal games aside, there was a huge carnival going on right outside the stadium since last noon! It was so much difference as compared to another competition venue, Korat Chatchair Hall, where Portugal and Brazil best Libya and Japan 5-1 and 4-1 respectively. The crowds were already there packing Nimibutr Stadiums entrance as early as 4pm and the football-ish climate was pushed to the extreme!
