The Great Eastern Charity Shield 2014 between Tampines Rovers FC and Home United FC kicked off last evening at Jalan Besar Stadium. The match ended 1-0 with Tampines Rovers FC winning the Shield in an engaging match that saw plenty of action and entertainment to thrill more than 3,000 fans at the stadium. Miljan Mrdakovic scored in the 47th minute. The win also gives Tampines Rovers FC their first three points of the 2014 Great Eastern-YEO’s S.League.
The match raised more than $122,000 and was donated to The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund. Dr. Khoo Kah Siang, Chief Executive Officer, Great Eastern presented the cheque to Mr. Han Fook Kwang, Chairman of The Straits Times School Packet Money Fund. With the introduction of the match experience initiatives this season, fans were treated to free donuts from Dunkin’ Donuts, a fun match day clapper cum programme and they had lots of fun interacting with the two new mascots from the respective clubs.
